In July 2025, a price storm broke out in China’s luxury car market. FAW Audi officially announced the pre-sale price of the new A5L – starting from 256,800 yuan, nearly 40,000 yuan cheaper than the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and 23,000 yuan lower than the BMW 3 Series.
This price was like a huge rock invested in a calm lake, causing an uproar in consumers and the industry in an instant. Traditional German luxury brands have lowered their prices to the 250,000 range for the first time, completely rewriting the competitive rules for luxury B-class cars.
In the century-old history of the Audi brand, the A5 series has always represented the perfect combination of elegance and sports. The domestically-produced A5L not only inherits the pure German gene, but also announces to the market with three core advantages of 2969mm ultra-long wheelbase, Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving system and the fifth-generation EA888 engine: the counterattack of traditional luxury brands has begun.
Disruptive pricing, a breakout in the luxury car market
The price system of the luxury car market is being reshaped. When consumers are used to the entry threshold of BBA of 300,000+, FAW Audi A5L emerged at a first-time gift price of 256,800-289,800 yuan.
This price strategy is a precise blow. Horizontal comparison of German competitors: The official guide price of Mercedes-Benz C-class starts at 295,800 yuan, and the BMW 3 Series starts at 299,900 yuan. The starting price of Audi A5L is directly lower than 30,000 yuan.

However, users also reported some minor problems in the early stage: the sensor occasionally falsely called the alarm in smog weather, and the limited cleaning effect of the lidar after muddy roads. This reminds that traditional luxury brands still need to continue to invest in software algorithm optimization.
Space optimization, perfect fusion of coupe and practicality
Domestic extension is a key adjustment of Audi A5L to the Chinese market. Compared with the overseas version, the wheelbase is 77mm longer, reaching 2969mm, creating an 87mm rear knee space.
